Artifact # 1: Student Writing Sample "5(a) The teacher develops and implements projects that guide learners in analyzing the complexities of an issue or question using perspectives from varied disciplines and cross-disciplinary skills (e.g., a water quality study that draws upon biology and chemistry to look at factual information and social studies to examine policy implications)."
During the social studies unit I taught about different countries, I had many opportunities to help students use a wide range of disciplines in a single lesson. This artifact, which is a sample of student informative writing, shows how the student used various subjects in this project. For example, in order to research the writing topic, students had to read. This assignment also required writing and social studies, as students learned about different cultures and countries. The combination of these different disciplines culminated in this informative writing assignment.
