Artifact # 1: Social studies lesson plan and accompanying Google Forms quiz
"4(a) The teacher effectively uses multiple representations and explanations that capture key ideas in the discipline, guide learners through learning progressions, and promote each learner’s achievement of content standards."
This artifact is a lesson plan and Google Forms quiz that I used to help students understand how people and places change over time. This lesson was designed to meet the HCPS III Social Studies Benchmarks SS.3.7.2: Compare the physical and human characteristics of different communities and regions, and SS.3.7.4: Examine the ways in which people modify the physical environment and the effects of these changes. In order to help students meet these standards, I used a variety of ways to investigate change over time. Students read a chapter about change in their textbooks, watched a YouTube video about how their local community, Hawaii Kai has changed over time, and took a Google Forms quiz in which they matched historic pictures of Hawaii Kai with modern pictures of Hawaii Kai. Therefore, the main idea of this lesson, that people and places change over time, was shown in a variety or ways.
