Artifact # 1: Reflection on observing an ELL class
"9(a) The teacher engages in ongoing learning opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in order to provide all learners with engaging curriculum and learning experiences based on local and state standards."
During my student teaching, I constantly learned through both observation, asking questions of other teachers, and direct experiences working with the students. One of the most valuable learning experiences as a student teacher was observing the ELL class. Working with ELL students is a necessary skill, and observing this class was extremely beneficial. This experience provided me with an insight into working with ELL students that I would not have gained through research, and has therefore better prepared me to work with a diverse group of learners. This artifact is a reflection on this experience.
